Hello, it's only Back to Black director Sam Taylor-Johnson telling today's edition of BBC Radio 4's This Cultural Life which certain cinema in King's Cross she attended that made her want to be a filmmaker... bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00…
Thank you to Julia Raeside for flagging up that this BFI Southbank billboard is STILL THERE, months after our SCALA!!! The Movie screening season actually ended. (But do buy the ace Blu-ray at the shop.) And I WILL walk out with this under my coat as soon as I get the chance.
Wonderful article and interview with SCALA!!! co-director Jane Giles, about the Scala cinema, how we made our film, and its particular appeal to younger audiences, from the hugely talented Daniella Alconaba of the The Mancunion.
Playing in the SCALA!!! audience on the beautiful Electric Palace cinema's resident piano yesterday, with a bit of Bowie's Wild is the Wind. If your cinema has a piano, ali catterall will come and play it!
Lovely final UK gig (for a while) at the beautiful Electric Palace Cinema in Hastings yesterday. Warmed up the audience, too, with a bit of the old Joanna stroking. Many thanks to Juliet Brando and the cinema for arranging such an excellent day trip.
Can't wait to jump on the resident piano at the Electric Palace Hastings this Sunday to play this sort of thing and other Bowie instrumentals before a screening of SCALA!!! This will be our final UK gig for a while, as after 45 screenings and Q&As we need a little bit of a rest!
SCALA!!! - Sun 11am
Or the Incredibly Strange Rise and Fall of the World's Wildest Cinema and How It Influenced a Mixed-up Generation of Weirdos and Misfits. Back by popular demand, plus Q&A and live piano with director ali catterall!

Saw SCALA!!! The Movie tonight. BRILLIANT! The Scala was one of
my favourite places and this film captures it in all it’s subversive, innovative, radical, seditious, filthy, provocative glory! I’m so very proud of my friend ali catterall As directorial debuts go this is fucking ace!👏
Tonight is special - our final London gig this year. And to mark it, we're saying farewell at that exceedingly Scala Cinema-like venue, Prince Charles Cinema. SCALA!!! is really a film about audiences - and there's no better way to experience it than with one.
