Clare 💙 Independent Schools Me too. I suspect not many in designated 'special' schools. But there are a lot (98k SEN + 33k with EHCP) in mainstream private school. Some of the 33k are paid by the LA where the EHCP names the school but I don't know how many. Everyone is wasting money on legal fees :-/

ADHDsendmum Jane I was working with someone who found a correlation between pursuing an EHC Needs assessment and the education setting idea to stop all testing. Everything went to verbal opinion. Scratching my head on that one.

Clare 💙 Independent Schools If the LEA is paying - child has an EHCP and they placed them at the school - they can reclaim the VAT so it makes no difference. I think it is referring to SEN kids at mainstream private schools with parents paying - they will get VATted and might become LEA responsibility.

Julie Robinson, on the impact of VAT, says that families with children with SEND but without an EHCP will have to pay more. She calls for a delay in the implementation of this policy for children with SEND to not add to the burdens on the system.

Then why is my daughter still waiting for her EHCP 16 months after we applied for it? She’s already missed school this year due to the lack of support for her needs.
