Ready to go and decimate our native invertebrate and reptile populations, drive the persecution of our raptors and mammals, and fill the countryside with lead shot and carcasses. Just to appease the rich minority who’ll shoot a small percentage of them.

Having spent a good chunk of my time arguing the case for Ragwort, it’s clear that misinformation is widespread and damaging, leading to more glyphosate in the environment and more Ragwort being pulled. Spreading helpful posters such as this is most welcome 🐛

A relatively quiet but diverse ringing session this morning, with 26 birds of 13 species ringed Dorset Wildlife Trust Wild Woodbury. The years first 3 Grasshopper Warbler ringed, along with a surprise Pied Flycatcher the best of the bunch. Dorset Bird Club

Ah yes, those lovely wildflowers that are some of the most important for nectar provision and habitat for a host of our native invertebrates. The fact that Ragwort and Thistles were ever, and are still, being branded as ‘dangerous weeds’ is ridiculous.

Excellent Birds of Poole Harbour sunset cruise this evening, with 6 different Osprey in Wareham Channel. Breeding male 022 photos here, along with a distant (colour ringed) Peregrine. Dorset Bird Club

“Overrun” with a native wildflower that’s very important for pollinators and many other invertebrates, let alone the species that then feed on the inverts. The mass misinformation surrounding ragwort is hugely damaging.

Passed this front “lawn” that looks like it’s put down astroturf, then gravelled over most of it, with plant pots filled with plastic plants 🙃 Shit Lawns

Lovely to see several Silver-spotted Skipper during a survey Dorset Wildlife Trust Fontmell Down today. A rainy start soon brightened with many on the wing and keen to get nectaring across the site. BC Dorset 🦋

A great Birds of Poole Harbour Osprey cruise this morning. Lots of rain but that didn’t stop the birds from coming out, with 5-6 Osprey, WT Eagle, Spoonbill, Marsh Harrier, and much more. This juv Osprey showing why the no landing area so important.

Some excellent ringing Dorset Wildlife Trust rewilding site Wild Woodbury over the past week. The Wryneck part of 200 birds, mainly Blackcap and Chiffchaff, but including a great mix of other migrants and resident birds pictured below. Dorset Bird Club #rewilding
