This was absolutely tremendous. And a fitting tribute to David Nield, who died earlier this year - his 37 years as DoM of Tiffin School and 27 at All Saints Church established something very special in state education. Congratulations to James Day for developing this so superbly!
I think Gareth Malone OBE’s TV series about the Bach St John Passion is exceptional public service broadcasting, really getting to the heart of this incredible work of art and enabling it to speak to everyone. Simply superb.

youtu.be/jMYLyRQawzM?si… Awesome video about my current project - the opera Hansel and Gretel with 100s of DRET Music children, the stunning Fiona Finsbury 🇪🇺🏳️🌈 and Eleanor Sanderson-Nash, conductor supreme Simon Toyne and the exemplary #ROHCreateAndSing resources ROH Schools
I first conducted the John Passion 33 years ago in the Sheldonian Theatre with the University College, Oxford (Univ) chorus & orchestra. It’s a thrill to return to this incredible piece with Northampton Bach Choir, who engage with it with such immediacy & heart. What a privilege to make music in a great community.
The MTA Conference is a highlight of my year - seriously good CPD, and I always learn so much! A vital battery recharge… And I’m looking forward to exploring musical KS3 and KS4 curriculum design with the inspirational Liz Dunbar from Huntington School Music Department, York. Do join us!
