If you want to understand modern physics -- or really any abstract ideas -- you have to take it for what it is and stop trying to understand it through something else like it. There isn't anything else like it. This is the problem with well-indended analogies like the rubber

jack morris Interesting aside: the optimal packing of unit spheres in any dimension N is mostly an unsolved problem, only known for N=1,2,3,4, (7?), 8 and 24. Isn't that wild? It's a fundamental limit that describes the compactness of space and it's not known.

Pretty much every worthwhile endeavor not only involves tedium, but is in fact *mostly* made of tedium. To get anywhere, have to be comfortable with that, and stay excited about your goal while working through the tedium.

There's a set of axioms that underlie all of modern mathematics. Most of them are logical in the sense that they are about the mechanics of reasoning. Two are not - one is the controversial axiom of choice. The other asserts that infinity exists. Wild.

Really enjoyed this video about an insane FPV camera drone that can fly at 300 km/h and now I'm wondering where I can buy an FPV camera drone that can fly at 300 km/h. youtube.com/watch?v=9pEqyr…

Would the Roblox Dev who parked their Lambo in front of the Hilton at RDC please move it somewhere less envy-inducing! 😅 (Sweet ride though!)
