many decades ago when Sonny Mehta was my publisher at Knopf and I was nervous youngish author Gita gave me this - Rajput I guess - miniature to give me whiskery confidence. I loved her smokey voice, her take no prisoners wit, her brilliant writing. Very lucky to have known her.
