I have now officially started my new position as postdoc fellow at NINAnature Trondheim. Last June, we had the surprise to learn our project was accepted by Norges forskningsråd under the Young Research Talent call. 3 yrs to continue our work about #pollutants & #Arctic #seabirds 💪

Together, these papers give a comprehensive overview of Arctic Skua non-breeding movements. Important knowledge, considering that the species is listed as vulnerable on the European Red List and appears to be one of the fastest declining seabirds in the North Atlantic. 9/9

A parallel paper on the migration stopovers in the Atlantic by Arctic Skuas (led by Nina_OHanlon), using data from the four best-sampled breeding sites, was recently published in Marine Ecology Progress Series (MEPS): int-res.com/abstracts/meps… 8/9

Fishermen in Vardø are building their own Kittiwake hotels 😊👌 Old fish boxes stacked on top of a storage container. So cool to see the care for nature when many other coastal communities are trying to scare the Kittiwakes away or prevent them from settling. Vardø win ✊

Well, that's a wrap! Examined nearly 500 birds this week for half a dozen projects at American Museum of Natural History. A laundry list accumulated over the last 14 years. A brilliant collection and a fantastic team!
