Oh, wow. US Clean Energy Manufacturing grants include $255.6 million for Highland Materials to set up a 20,000 ton/year polysilicon plant.

Lots of fascinating numbers. Mindblowing to me how generous the US incentives are.

And while China is obviously low cost, commercial solar in Europe is more like that in China than in the US (ie reasonably priced and using newest tech).

The deeply weird thing about this tweet is how I keep getting suspiciously botlike like/repost notifications on it.

I'm not complaining and I know some of you aren't bots but... why? Some 'looking credibly dry and scientific after hitting a certain activity threshold' thing?

This is a massive discrepancy - over 45 TWh of 'missing' generation betweenChinese power generation stats and the power consumption stats.

I asked around and found the answer - but it was also something I wasn't aware of myself, so I learned something in the process...
