Eleanor Road School, Hackney, showing bomb damage to school building, 20th/21st September 1940. School Opened 1898 for 295 B, 295 G, 310 I from Lamb Lane Inc. temp. accn. for 20 B, 20 G in 1913. Reorg. 1927/32 for 300 JM, 262 I, and again 1936/38 for 510 SB. Closed by 1947.

In 1898 the ticket machines like the one above were in use at Hackney, Homerton, Victoria Park, Old Ford and Bow stations. A penny in each slot bought a 3rd class return ticket between any two stations on the network. You had to get up early to use the workmen’s tickets.
