Proud of my city

Our diversity is our greatest strength, there is no place in our city for those who try to divide us. The violence we have seen across the country, and in South Yorkshire, since the devastating attack in Southport is not protest, but hate. 1/

We stand with our neighbours in Rotherham – with those who have today experienced horrendous and mindless scenes of violence. We must, and we will, continue to stand against racism. 2/

I can’t quite bear to watch the news at the moment, to see such fear and hate. As usual, I retreat to the trees, to the colours of the sunrise spilling across the mists on the quiet fields. I share these moments here for anyone else who needs to be reminded of calm and hope.
