What a great impression the ‘new’ 1S3 made on their P7 visit! Totally engaged, collaborated with everyone in their groups, made fantastic contributions to the lesson. One young man even asked a Q that stumped me and now I have to find out the answer and get back to him! 💭 🤔 🙋‍♀️

In 1797 Carlo Maria Rosini argued traces of fruits harvested in autumn – pomegranates, chestnuts, dry figs, raisin grapes, pine cones and dates – found at both Herculaneum and Pompeii, meant that the eruption could not have happened in late August.

He also noted heating braziers in the public rooms of some of the houses as evidence of cold weather, he suggested an eruption date in late November
