Liza is clearly right that this is a big problem that, no matter *what* Congress ends up passing with regard to 702 reauthorization, it *needs* to clarify.

If the agreement is to reauthorize 702 for another five years and no more, the statute should be *clear* on that point.

This is especially surprising given that, as of now, the Court has exactly *two* cases on its docket for the October 2024 Term. Not only is the Court way behind even its recent pace for granting certiorari, but the dearth of relists suggests that no grants are likely coming soon.

The website now lists *both* this Friday (April 12) and next Tuesday (April 16) as potential “opinion” days—meaning we expect one or more rulings in argued cases on both of those dates:
