Excellent evening circuit of Shalford Meadow highlights;- Oystercatcher, 7 Lapwing (3 chicks), 8 Mandarin (6 chicks), male Yellow Wagtail, Hobby & Garden Warbler.
Earlier a walk around the Bures/Lamarsh border produced 2 Turtle Doves & at least 2 singing Nightingales

Nice Whinchat at Long Melford today, great find by Darren Underwood

4 different mating pairs of Crucifer Shieldbugs found on Charlock plants growing in an organic crop of wheat with Darren Underwood, about 25 individuals seen - just shows what can happen with no pesticides or herbicides

Small Yellow Underwing moths from Shalford Meadow, Lt Cornard & a 2nd plant of the rare Narrow-leaved Water Dropwort from Tues & Weds

Found a few specimens of the scarce bug, Graptopeltus lynceus plus another colony of Sehirus luctuosus (Forget-me-not Shieldbugs) at the railway crossing at the other end of Shalford Meadow, this time associating with Early Forget-me-not (Myosotis ramosissima)

Found a number of Sehirus luctuosus (Forget-me-not Shieldbugs) running around the edge of this bare patch amongst a carpet of Field Forget-me-not (Myosotis arvensis) at Shalford Meadow, Lt Cornard

Great day yesterday post 2, a couple of twitches late afternoon, firstly a male Citrine Wagtail at Holland Haven with Darren Underwood what an absolute stunner it was, looks good for 1s calcarata, then Shalford Meadow for Narrow-leaved Water Dropwort a brilliant find by Sam Morgan

Great day yesterday post 1, starting off at Long Melford with Darren Underwood highlights being 2 Scarce Fungus Weevils (Platyrhinus resinosus), Ramsons Hoverflies (Portevinia maculata), Crucifer Shieldbugs (Eurydema oleracea) & Herb Paris

Highlights from a brief visit to Abberton this afternoon were 2 Whimbrel, 3 Common Sandpipers, 3 Greenshank, 2 LRP, Cattle Egret, 2 Spoonbills 2 Oystercatchers, Garden & Reed Warblers

Quick visit to Shalford Meadow early morning after my night shift was very rewarding with Dunlin & Wheatear, also 2 Swifts & at least 3 Lapwings still

Shalford Meadow & Cornard Mere today; Common Sandpiper along the river, 4 Yellow Wagtails, 6 House Martins with 50+ Swallows, still at least 4 Lapwings, Garden Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Common Whitethroats, 2 Sedge Warblers, plenty of Reed Warblers at the Mere & Nightingale

Brilliant hour & a bit after work this evening at White Horse Marsh, East Bergholt with Darren Underwood & David Bradnum;- 3 Jack Snipe, 2 Wood Sands, drake Garganey, 2 Greenshank, 2 Green Sands & Barn Owl

Brief visit to Shalford Meadow this afternoon;- White Wagtail & Yellow Wagtail with 30+ Pieds plus 2 Grey Wagtails & 4 Lapwings. Also Meadow Saxifrage flowering, 1st time I've seen it here, probably as a result of it being still too wet to get the cattle on, hence no grazing.

A quick check of Giffords Flash produced a Swift, 6 B-t Godwit & Pintail. Then to Abberton where I found a Spotted Redshank with 4 Greenshank at Billets Flood & a couple of Green-winged Orchids on the reserve, other highlights were 3 Spoonbill, 20+ Swifts, 2 LRP & Willow Warbler

A quick check of Shalford Meadow, Lt Cornard after work this evening produced 11+Yellow Wagtails & a single Grey Wagtail feeding with Pieds towards N end plus a Willow Warbler singing at N end, Common Snipe & the 5 Lapwing still present.

Shalford Meadow visit on the way home from Abberton produced the fem Goldeneye still present in the sewage works lagoons with 5 Tufties, a Green Sandpiper & a pair of Shoveler, 3 Yellow Wagtails towards the N end plus 5 Lapwings still & 20+ Swallows hawking low over the meadow

A visit to Abberton Reservoir today produced highlights of 2+ Arctic Tern, 2 Wheatear, Spoonbill, singing Willow Warbler, LRP, Green Sandpiper, Oystercatcher, 2cy Med Gull plenty of summer migrants incl. Common Terns, Yellow Wags, Nightingales, Lesser & Common Whitethroats etc

Goldeneye the highlight from Shalford Meadow, Lt Cornard early afternoon, plus 20+ Swallows, 2 House Martins, Sedge Warbler, Whitethroat & 5 Lapwings still.
Then 2 Lesser Scaup (pair) at Giffords Flash, Stoke-by-Nayland plus Lesser Whitethroat & lots of hirundines
