* Johnson would only do a deal where he is PM. Sunak won't make Johnson PM & doesn't want to be Johnson's ChEx again. So what can Boris offer?

* if Johnson isn't PM he wants to be independent of govt for future (2025).

He could have a range of target audiences
- MPs who may endorse him (who didn't last time)
- Boris Johnson himself!
- Party members (who didn't vote for him but might have in hindsight)
- General public (esp lost Cons 2019 voters)

Johnson went from 41 on Friday lunchtime to 54 in last 24 hours, +3 last night, +3 this morning on Patrick Flynn timeline, so a deceleration after early momentum.
