A nationwide search is underway for the next dean of the Arnold School, and Tom Chandler is prepared to hand over the reins after 17 years as its leader. His office is packed, and, here, he unpacks his reflections on his tenure as dean. ow.ly/W15Z50Rl6Ym #ArnoldSchoolProud

Are you conducting intervention research that *explicitly* targets psychosocial factors within a reading/writing intervention? K-12. Psychosocial broadly defined as constructs under the umbrella of "motivation science." I'm looking for potential contributors to a special issue!

“If they had discovered it, they wouldn’t need explicit instruction.” As a SpecEd teacher, I can attest that what I do in Tier3 ALSO works (and is necessary) in Tier2 and Tier1. Why is this still not common knowledge?!? IDA Ontario

🆓🆕 🔓 from @ASHAjournals "It seems that testing is not simply an assessment of our learning; it is, itself, a form of learning." See how this relates to word-learning by 14 4- and 5-year-olds with #DevLangDis and 14 matched TD peers. pubs.asha.org/doi/full/10.10… RADLDcampaign

I was in a masters + credentials program at University of Cali Irvine in 03. This was an apparently niche time where NCLB led to a push for phonics, Scarborough’s Rope was new & emphasized, Open Court was the prime choice for boxed curr. etc I feel my T prep was solid, in theory

Literacy advocates: Ask school PTAs to survey parents to find how many have kids in private tutoring for reading. That kind of concrete questioning can spark change. Why are people paying? What are they paying for? Who can't afford to pay? Take results to the board and the Sup.

Really interesting study on timelines of referrals for language evaluation (in Netherlands from 2010-2014) . From the abstract "late-identified LDs exist, even at high school age. Girls and multilingual children tend to be missed at younger ages." pubs.asha.org/doi/epdf/10.10…
