“And [the King’s] horses – a thing most strange and certain –
Beauteous and swift, the minions of their race,
Turn’d wild in nature, broke their stalls, flung out,
Contending ‘gainst obedience, as they would make
War with mankind.”

What is the best book you read, that has an unreliable narrator keeping a big secret from the reader?

Gone Girl & Murder of Roger Ackroyd comes to my mind

Give me more, !

Neil Davenport has written a letter of liberty with Academy of Ideas about the closure of pubs in the UK. How does this affect society in ways other than finding a place to drink alcohol?

For the next episode, I will discuss this with him in more depth.

Next Tuesday at 7pm BST.

Team English Does anyone have any SOW/booklets/resources etc for The Giver and/or The Graveyard Book which they'd be willing to share to give me a bit of a head start?! Thank you in advance 💗

🌟Poetry revision🌟

I have been revising love and relationships poetry.
So, what has worked well?🧵

The goal of revision is fluent and flexible knowledge. I don’t want knowledge too rigid, rather it should bend to adapt to the focus of an essay task. 1/11

Last session on AIC with one of my tutees - we explored what MIGHT come up, and my top 10 AIC quotes that work for lots of possible themes and are great for analysis of language/ structure. Maybe of use..

Another course on An Inspector Calls coming first thing tomorrow. One of the things it talks about that I hadn’t noticed is just how often Mrs Birling disapproves of something her husband says or does in the first 100 lines of the play. Not a happy marriage!

Thread: A question for school leaders and please feel free to DM. Does anyone still value knowledge and experience over cheaper ECTs? This is in no way a dig, it is just something that I, and others of my age are really desperate to know because it is becoming an issue.

Getting up at 5:45am to set cover when you are ill = rubbish. Going in to work when you feel awful because you can’t face setting cover = rubbish. There has to be a better way! How do others in Team English manage this without burdening subject leads (I know it’s their job)?

Love this! For me, Sir Ian McKellen pulling apart Macbeth: ‘if you look after the sense, sounds look after themselves.’ youtube.com/watch?v=zGbZCg…
