New papers! I'm very pleased our study of the March 2022 East Antarctic heatwave study is published. With 54 coauthors from 14 countries, this cross-disciplinary examination of the heatwave is a shining example of Antarctic international collaboration. theconversation.com/a-heatwave-in-…

This is the culmination of 15 mths of work I did with the AAD. I feel privileged to have been trusted with women’s stories. I cried when I heard my report would be made public. Saying uncomfortable things out loud is hard, but moments like this make it worth it 👊🏼

Antarctic stations are plagued by sexual harassment - I'm angry - 5 years after and we have seen little change - here are my thoughts in The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand : theconversation.com/antarctic-stat…

Brain losses
Brain corals grow only a few mm per year, making these colonies perhaps 200+ years old. The top one has survived recent (double floods) but the bottom one has sadly succumbed. Moreton Bay flic.kr/p/2ntNRnx

Australian government, your time is now. Anthony Albanese Senator Penny Wong pick up the phone to Washington, bring Assange's decade+ long ordeal to an end. You might not like him, but the time has come to stand up for our fellow citizen. To stand up for freedom of speech, for whistle-blowers.

Proud of my big bro Johnny's 1st peer-reviewed pub - not too shabby given he left school at 15! Great example of a research collaboration appropriately acknowledging contributions regardless of academic 'status'...and did I mention it has diggers.... sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

I’m thrilled by this attention for the IPCC report.

My last thread has surpassed a million impressions, with no satire, celebrities, or snark. That’s really something 😃.

So let’s talk about solutions sector-by-sector.🧵

In response to our ABC Hobart interview Lisa Craw and I met with University of Tasmania today. I made this graph which validated why it feels so much tighter now than when I started in 2018. The base stipend is now $3260/yr below the poverty line and $743/yr less than CPI increase. 1/n

More than half of the research time undertaken in Australian universities is undertaken by PhD candidates.

The stipends they are paid are below minimum wage meaning that many are in financial distress.

It is time to rethink the RTP.
