A new dawn has broken, has it not?

Whilst we did not secure a Labour victory in Clacton, I am so proud of the campaign we ran. Clacton Labour Party and I, put forward a positive message of hope, unity and respect in line with our principles and values. I hope the new MP will work to bring all communities together.

I’m off to bed now after 36hrs of election mania. One of the highlights of those hours was chatting with LordKinnock in the BBC green room. Lovely man. Let’s never forget that what unites us as Brits is 90% of stuff and we mustn’t let the 10% that we disagree about be what breaks

In the next couple of weeks we will see the latest official Police Workforce figures. From my FOI requests I was expecting under 6k SCs left (some forces actually ignored requests) Other sources are sayng 5800ish. If this is the case we really do need to stop and take stock.

A world in which Tom’s government dismantled the criminal justice system through a decade of defunding, leaving our prisons overflowing. It is also the world in which Tom’s own government released 10,083 criminals onto our streets, for the very same reasons.

There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy. Although we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt, and use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics.

Violence in politics is never acceptable, and the attack against Trump should rightfully be condemned. However, the people of Clacton deserve an MP who is present, active, and wants to represent them in our Parliament.

Hard to imagine Trump, Biden, Vance and Harris having a good laugh after the election like Sunak, Starmer, Dowden and Rayner are. #KingsSpeech

Thank you to the Prime Minister Keir Starmer for recognising the hard work of myself & other campaigners pushing for change. Great to see our calls taken forward on compelling offenders to attend sentencing, safeguarding children of sex offenders and fast-tracking rape cases.

This makes me feel insanely patriotic
