“Buy signals” for founders to look for in early customer conversations:

- 'How soon can I get this?'
- 'This is really different from what we’ve seen'
- 'The price is X? great, let's move to our vendor selection process'
- Eyes lighting up (generic but true...you can't miss it)

Too many companies — esp B2B companies — write in a way that people don't talk. The Bar Test is one of things we cover in my Maven 🏛 course that can help.

It forces you to get rid of words like 'leverages' and 'enables' and actually explain your product in plain English.

Question: how do you successfully sell a product that provides extreme customer value...BUT that value isn't obvious to the customer until after the product is used...AND there’s upfront activation energy required?
