Milford Sound might be my new favourite place, simply breathtaking. I can see why it is often referred to as the 8th wonder of the world. The view behind me is one of only two places where you can see a glacier, rainforest and freshwater together. Where is the other?

I couldn’t leave New Zealand without stopping in to see Bilbo! Although it seemed he was rather preoccupied… The interior is built at 83% human size - large enough to allow for easy movement, but small enough to give a sense of it being a space for hobbits. Maths meets art.

So many people I couldn’t fit them all in the photo! Thank you to everyone that came to see my talk The University of Waikato 🎓 - one of my favourite talks on the tour so far. The energy in the room was next level. Remember to choose your beaches wisely next time you go swimming in the ocean!

Look where I am! The 2nd tallest tower in the Southern Hemisphere and the 28th tallest in the world. Lots of exciting opportunities for maths content, starting with the beautiful conical shaped island behind me… I wonder if I can cut the photo to generate all 4 conic sections?

The right-angled triangles used for the pattern in Fed Square have base length 2, height 1, and hypotenuse root 5. If you combine five of the smallest triangles together, you create another larger triangle with the same ratio of side lengths. The best street art in Melbourne :)

What a day Monash University - not only did I get to speak at the colloquium to a full room of maths enthusiasts, I also found the office of Burkard Polster, aka Mathologer! It’s fair to say I have a long way to go to make my office door look this cool…
