The 1st day served as a platform for open dialogue. Key stakeholders, including representatives from the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption, regional asset recovery networks, government agencies, and CSOs, participated in various sessions, covering background to the CAPAR + oppotunities&challenges in AR.
After the two days consultations, the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption and COMESA Governance, Peace and Security agreed to work together on the following areas;
- Capacity building to strengthen fight against Illicit Financial Flows
- Knowledge and Information exchange
- Synergies on Country Assignments
- Research

The Assistant Secretary General of COMESA Secretariat Dr. Dev Haman stated that RECs are part of African Union and corruption should be addressed. He also noted support of continental bodies like African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption is key in facilitating anti-corruption projects at Member States level.
A study that was done by AUABC shows that strong engagement between the RECs and African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption will lead to;
- Reduction in corruption
- Enhanced implementation of AfCFTA Secretariat Official through addressing barriers of trade in the region like bribery, IFF
- Strengthen the implementation of AUCPCC
