Important language in the new GermanForeignOffice statement on Germany's Iran policy. The phrase 'existing sanctions regime' refers to US secondary sanctions—there are no EU sectoral sanctions on Iran. This statement could be read to mean that Germany is now on board with US sanctions.

Iran's economic recovery, which began in early 2021, is fragile and a lot of things can derail it. But whereas the biggest problem for Iran's economy used to be the impact of inflation/sanctions on output, the bigger challenge is now the impact of inflation/sentiments on demand.

IRI's ForMin 3 days ago: 'The Americans are in a hurry' over a nuclear deal.

IRI's president today: The Americans are 'dragging their feet' over a nuclear deal.

Completely contradictory, and somehow still both entirely incorrect.

Basically, half the women in Tehran are walking around without headscarves these days. Has the nation crumbled? Has God smited us? I dont feel smited. So maybe these conservatives can stop pretending this is the cornerstone of our faith and social order.

If sanctions were snapped back, the resultant economic impact on Iran would likely be marginal, since Tehran already faces an array of U.S. secondary sanctions that are far more comprehensive and damaging than what is outlined in past Security Council resolutions.

An unwritten pact binding the US and Saudi Arabia has survived 15 presidents and 7 kings through an oil embargo, 2 Gulf wars and the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
