Bizarre, I don't think I've ever seen an academic edited volume where the table of contents has chapter titles but not chapter authors.
nomos-elibrary.de/10.5771/978075…

One more reason that most edited volumes are worthless, I guess. See my blog post from 2007: publishingarchaeology.blogspot.com/2007/08/why-ar…

insidehighered.com/news/global/20… I guess I missed this while in Mexico last week. Wow, bad behavior by archaeologists is never good news.

Smith & Lobo, 2019: 'Cities Through the Ages: One Thing or Many?' frontiersin.org/articles/10.33… One perspective is the city as two things: political cities & economic cities (figure). Another idea is the city as one thing: a setting for energized crowding & agglomeration effects.

Headed to Princeton for a conference of historians and archaeologists on sustainability issues. They will see a graphic in number of my slides that says:
'- Define!
- Operationalize!
- Test! '
I want people to stop using post-hoc speculation to draw conclusions from the past.

How it started -> how it’s going 🎶 when I was 12 I saved up money from busking around Palo Alto, playing at pizza parlors and farmers markets with my dad and brothers, etc.. so I could buy my first @martinguitar! this week I got to see it on display at MIM museum!!

Grateful Dead - St. Stephen, William Tell, The Eleven 1968-08-23 youtu.be/OuR5IEfbJcI?si… via YouTube I'm getting nostalgic here, my first Dead concert (at the Fillmore East) was a year or two after this performance. Guess what the time signature is on 'The Eleven'?

Why is Google Scholar sending me alerts for predatory journals, like the International Journal of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences? The quality of anything in a journal like that is automatically suspect.

I’m sitting here on the exterior steps of Teotihuacan lab, trying to drink my coffee in peace and read about the philosophy of causation, and these balloons keep flying over, with their loud whooshing noise. ASU Teotihuacan Lab School of Human Evolution and Social Change

Getting tired of colleagues publishing in predatory journals (mdpi, Frontiers, Hindawi, etc). I think I will add a predatory journal warning (& shaming) in talks. That is, identify a paper on the topic I'm discussing that is in a predatory journal. I'll start next week.
