Don’t be fooled by its size – the D class lifeboat doesn’t let our crews down when conditions get tough, as shown in this recent footage of WHITBY RNLI.

The D class lifeboat is used for rescues closer to shore.

What’s blue and can lift an 18-tonne lifeboat?

The SLARS (Shannon Launch and Recovery System) of course! It acts as a mobile slipway for the Shannon class lifeboat, as shown below 👇

Do you know what to do if you get into trouble in the water?

It’s simple: .

Lean back and use your arms and legs to stay afloat. Then call for help or swim to safety. If you see someone in trouble, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.

Could you have done a 42km, 3 day hike aged 10? That's exactly what Catalina has done! 🥾

Catalina raised over £1000 for @FoweyRNLI by taking on this incredible challenge and should be very proud of herself - we certainly are 💙
