The English education system is seriously flawed. Curriculum not fit; one fifth of children persistently absent; teacher recruitment crisis; punitive inspectorate; assessment brands one third of children as failures by16! And now buildings collapsing! Time for policy change?

My foster lad got 3s and a single 5. After all he has been through, seeing all the effort he put in. I could not be prouder. The system is wrong, it fails far, far too many. He is no failure and he will bloom at college...no thanks to compulsory education.

Anything that encourages reading books anywhere gets my vote ! 👍

What’s the evidence this approach leads to fluent readers?

‘Repeated messages’ 👇🏽or

‘ indoctrination’ subliminal messaging in schools -NOT wearing CORRECT uniform or hairstyle = detention, suspension = punishment!

No wonder - adults - (parents and teachers school leaders politicians ) model these values. 🤔

Evidence shows that formal observations, ‘learning walks’ and ‘talking to teachers about teaching’ do not help improve the learning.
A specific focus on pupils’ learning in lessons followed by an instructional coaching dialogue with the teacher has greater sustained impact.
