MLB avoided a problem today with a few players hitting waivers, unlike last year's Angels-led cavalcade. Among the less than 10 players on today's list: Tommy Pham (STL), Robbie Grossman, Travis Jankowski (TEX), and Nicky Lopez (CHW), per sources. Katie Woo was first on Pham.

Freddie Freeman (finger) is out of the lineup for a third straight game today, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expects him to play the entirety of an upcoming four-game series against the Diamondbacks. It’s a big one.

The Angels flashed this as Shohei Ohtani came to bat. He was cheered, and a small smattering of “MVP” chants commenced, but Angel Stadium is only about half full right now.

Angel Stadium is almost full now, and Shohei Ohtani heard some boos when he came to bat agian in the third inning. He answered with an RBI triple down the right-field line.

The Giants announce they’ve agreed to a 6-year, $151M extension with Matt Chapman, voiding his two upcoming player options and a 2027 mutual option. The deal keeps him in San Francisco through 2030. He’ll earn $25M each year and receive a $1M signing bonus in 2025.
