A beautiful sunflower to brighten your Thursday morning! Last year I tried growing them & our cheeky squirrel pulled them down & I guess ate them. This year I tricked him by growing them in the front drive where he doesn’t venture rather than the back garden! 😆🐿️🧡

Wedding Anniversary today ❤️!! A wonderful day 5 years ago with such happy memories. Life has changed unimaginably with the loss of darling Tory but my one steady is having Mike by my side. He’s my rock, my beloved & can still bring a big smile to my face 💕

Couldn’t resist looking at wedding photos today. I love this one. Tory had just finished doing my nails 😊. It was hard but also lovely to watch her speech. I wanted to pull her out of the video & give her the biggest hug. So many happy memories #grief 🩵

Decided life is too short to not make the most of annual leave so hubby & I have come to Nîmes for a few days. He is delighted as there is so much Roman stuff. I am happy to see such a beautiful place, enjoy a strawberry daiquiri & of course spend some time together ❤️#grief

Wow Nimes’s is a beautiful place! Had a lovely day exploring today. The arena is amazing & we’ve enjoyed lots of good food. Highly recommend this place! It has been incredibly hot 🥵 but we are lucky to have a lovely pool at the hotel 😊

Had a great time in Nimes. Went to the pont du gard yesterday, lit a candle for Tory in the church on the way back 🩵. Today went to the beautiful Jardins de la Fontaine. Now time to have a dip in the pool, dinner tonight & then heading home tomorrow. Nimes is a lovely place 💗

Leaving Nimes today and walking to the station we stood to watch the fountain one last time & this rainbow 🌈 appeared. I like to think it’s Tory giving me the thumbs up & wishing me a safe journey home 🩵 #grief

It was lovely to be away. It gave my grief brain a little peace, but of course Tory consumed my thoughts often. Coming home & facing the reality that Tory isn’t here is hard but I will have my smile ready to welcome my younger daughter home from her trip tmrw 🩵 #forever20 #grief

So I’ve felt sad that my friendly robin seemed to have disappeared but I’ve been lucky enough to have some baby robins in my garden. One of them started to make friends with me & followed me around as I worked on Tory’s garden area, it lifted my spirits so much 💜 #grief

Rosie is off to Lincoln to study Biology! I’m so proud of how she found strength to complete school & get into university while coping with the tragic loss of her sister Tory, who I know would be so happy for her. Time to celebrate now 🥂🍾 #grief

It was a relief to get back to work today after a huge wave of grief hit me this weekend. Perhaps it was because Tory isn’t here to share the excitement of her sister getting into uni, or just being summer or it was simply missing her so very much. 🩵 #grief #forever20

4 yrs ago we took Tory to see her Grandma before she headed off to uni. Today we are doing the same for her sister before she leaves for uni. I still struggle to accept that Tory has died & she’s not here with us but I do try to make sure her sister doesn’t miss out 🩵 #grief

Had a lovely weekend seeing family. Lots of laughs & some tears. Needed a therapeutic day today so gardened for a bit and then did some painting. I’m a scientist 👩‍🔬 & not very artistic 😆 but if you enjoy it then it doesn’t matter. I love the bright colours 💜🩵❤️💙💛💚 #grief

Usually I am so tired from work I fall asleep easily but recently I just can’t sleep. While awake I think about the hardest parts of my grief journey & it’s absolutely adjusting to a world without my lovely daughter Tory in it. There’s no solution but I try my best 💙# grief

Feeling sad today. My lovely Bertie died last night. He was my special old man (7 yrs & 8 months old). I remember Tory cried tears of joy when we got Bertie & Basil 💙. Enjoy being back with Basil & Tory my lovely Bertie 😢💙

Had my first event as President Elect of the Dalton Community of the Royal Society of Chemistry. A brilliant event for early career inorganic chemists. Super talks & posters. Lovely to see such enthusiasm & hear some great science Royal Society of Chemistry
