Boom! The auroral corona fires a ray down Chapel-le-Dale towards Ingleton. Another from Magic Friday 10th. I've been shooting nightscapes for 14 years, and this was my best night out ever! Yorkshire Dales National Park #StormHour BBC Sky at Night Magazine

The camera is packed away waiting for the return of astronomical darkness at the end of the month, so in the meantime here's another of the 150 or so images I shot on that magical night of 10/11 May. From Ribblehead Station, with Ingleborough on the skyline. Yorkshire Dales National Park

Milky Way over Catbells from Friars Crag Derwentwater....... or should that be Friar's Crag (denoting a crag belonging to one friar, as quoted by LDNP), or Friars' Crag (denoting a crag belonging to at least two, and possibly many friars, as quoted by the National Trust)?😂😂😂

Aurora, mist and sheep, Ribblehead Viaduct 12/8/24. Two things I didn't notice either when I was there or looking at the RAW image out of the camera before editing - mist on the moor, and a flock of sheep under the viaduct. Colours unedited Yorkshire Dales National Park BBC Sky at Night Magazine

Another of Friday night's aurora from Twistleton Scar, Yorkshire Dales. The lower slopes of Whernside on the right, and the ridge formed by the two highest 'mountains' (if you can call them that!) in Lancashire, Gragareth and Green Hill, on the left. Yorkshire Dales National Park #StormHour
