Yorkshire Dales National Park
@yorkshire_dales
The Dales has many moods; wild, windswept, calm, peaceful, with valleys of hay meadows, dry stone walls and barns. One of the country’s most picturesque places.

Have you seen an Adder in the #YorkshireDales ? If so, please let us know! We know little of their status and distribution in the Park due to limited records.
Please send details of any sightings to [email protected]

Ian from our #YorkshireDales #NationalPark Wildlife Team and Hill Top Farm discuss the pressures on #Curlew and how we can help 🙏
Play your part by reducing disturbance to their nests; stick to footpaths and keep dogs on leads during nesting from now until the end of July.
The theme for #EarthDay is Planet vs. Plastics.
Through @woodlandtrust's ‘Grow Back Greener’ scheme we've been trialling tree protection to replace plastic tree guards; linen guards, recycled guards, and in some cases, no guards at all (deer fences).

It's #WorldEarthDay 💚 Trees and woodlands can absorb and lock up carbon, provide us with energy, stabilise soils, offer shade and protection, and create havens for wildlife and people - trees are heroes 🌳

It's #WorldCurlewDay 💚 The #YorkshireDales remain an important stronghold and are increasingly important for this enigmatic species.
As we help protect these wonderful birds, we use World Curlew Day as a chance to shout from the rooftops about the Curlew!

We're kicking off the weekend in the #YorkshireDales with this fantastic image of #Ribblehead Viaduct, taken at sunset a few weeks back by Walking Man Photography 🙏
The Viaduct has 24 massive stone arches which tower over the moor at 104 feet (32 metres).

Lovely to see these lambs enjoying sunshine earlier this week 🌤️
If you're spending time in or around the #YorkshireDales over the coming days, please:
🐕🦺 Keep dogs on lead around livestock and nesting birds
💚 Follow the paths and the Countryside Code
😊 Have a great time
Top Trumps - the top five waders in the #YorkshireDales ! Oyster Catchers can be found near rivers and valley bottoms.
Ground nesting birds are easily disturbed by dogs and fly away, leaving the nest vulnerable or abandoned. Please keep dogs on a lead at this time of year 🙏
