Today FBU Merseyside had an impromptu lobby of the Mersey Fire Authority meeting.
The Authority must take action and meet with Brigade Officials in the hope of avoiding a Fire Control #STRIKE !

I’m at Mersey Fire HQ this afternoon as authority members meet for their policy and resources committee.

They’ll have been greeted by FBU Merseyside outside demonstrating in solidarity with control staff who are to stage strike action on December 27.

I've been an operational firefighter for 17 years. I've seen some traumatic things.
Whenever I'm asked about my toughest job, I give the same answer..
The 3 years I worked in Merseyside Fire Control.
It takes a special person to work in Fire Control - it was too much for me.

No emergency service ever wants to go on strike.

Solidarity with fire control staff in Merseyside who have had no choice but to vote for strike action later this month to stop an imposed reduction in night-time staffing numbers.

Mersey Fire still have time to avert the strike.

Control staff delivered an overwhelming mandate for strike action in August, with 100% voting Yes on a turnout of 92%.

FBU general secretary Matt Wrack said: 'The intransigence of employers gives us no choice but to use that mandate'.
