Excellent article reflecting prudent practice—I have not performed perioperative imaging for urethroplasty in 10 years, >1000 cases. Complications can happen, but imaging doesn’t appear to change outcomes. The die is cast at the time
of surgery.

This technique is especially useful for SP robot to improve efficiency. Here is bipolar cutting on 3-0 stratafix in transvesical post-prostatectomy stenosis repair with buccal graft.

Eliminating unnecessary maneuvers is the first step to efficiency in surgery. The bipolar can be used to burn/cut dyed monofilament sutures. No need to pass in an instrument to cut or to use the needle driver to twist and break.

Recently surpassed 1000 cases using Intuitive SP Robot. Advantages: narrow profile gets into small tight spaces (retro, intravesical), easy peritoneal access in reoperative cases. For recon cases where its mostly dissection and suturing, can pretty much do any case.

Fantastic video! If I need to transect the ureter, I usually use bipolar to coagulate the periureteral vessels.
