We clearly missed an opportunity as E. coli biologists to host Olympic triathletes in our labs leading up to the games. Looks like I have found my new broader impacts activities. 😂🧪🧫

Welp. Maybe now my sysadmins will actually install things on the cluster for everyone to use instead of telling us to put everything in a conda environment.

It’s an honor to win the “Dashing Duo” hat contest and be amongst these other hat winners at this year’s Mad Hatter! A wonderful night and fantastic opportunity to support a great cause like the Sexual Assault Center of Middle Tennessee!

Happy to announce our newest paper in Immunity & Ageing: Warmer environmental temperature accelerates aging in mosquitoes, decreasing longevity and worsening infection outcomes. Kudos to Jordyn Barr, Lindsay Martin Ann Tate . Vanderbilt University Immunology & Allergy at BMC doi.org/10.1186/s12979…

Published today in nature, we describe an approach for single-molecule protein reading on Oxford Nanopore arrays. By utilizing ClpX unfoldase to ratchet proteins through a CsgG nanopore, we achieved single-amino-acid sensitivity. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Biologists would love to be able to read out the amino-acid sequence of any protein molecule as they would the letters of a sentence. A system in which a biological motor pulls proteins through a pore brings the dream closer to reality go.nature.com/3MHf43i
