In DC this week for my work on an AI and biosecurity consensus study with NAS. The data gathering sessions are open to the public and you can watch them here: nationalacademies.org/event/43251_08…

I'm seeing a lot of skeptical biologists sharing this, but I think it can both be true that (1) we need a lot more data to make models better and (2) as those models get better, AI-savvy biologists will discover things faster

Today, we’re thrilled to announce two exciting launches, powered by our partnership with Google Cloud: our first protein LLM, AA-0, and our new model API, a powerful tool designed to bring biological AI models directly to machine learning scientists. hubs.la/Q02Q58BM0

Big day today at Ginkgo Bioworks: we're pulling back the curtain on our proprietary biological foundation models and launching a model API! Our API will support private and open models, and we're pricing it competitively to enable others to build on top of it. Details in 🧵👇

Really looking forward to getting more AI training data out there! Will be exciting to see how the community helps shape our LDaaS offerings - the one thing I know for sure is that better models will come from (a lot more) data

Very exciting to see our early adopters roll in! One thing to clarify since I’ve gotten qs about it — this API is completely unrestricted in usage. Feel free to use it commercially, do representation learning, etc — we want to enable you. We’ll make that more clear in the UI.
