What most people opining here on fintwit are overlooking: We are in the midst of a financial world war. Global financial system is a weapon now and most of the reasoning we apply, assumptions we make and relationships we count on in predicting the future are flat out wrong!

This is the logic trap that the leverage/liquidity junkie Wall Street has been promoting for a while. Yes, the 1st statement is true, but the 2nd is not. High inflation is extremely corrosive to society, slowly kills the middle class & rapidly paves the road to neo-feudalism.

For enlightened societies, there are numerous ways to help the poor cope w/ hard times which don't require large scale debasement of the currency. History shows debasement is the #1 sign indicating democracy is slipping away. For politicians: quick rewards & laggy consequences.
