Of these, Jacoby’s book is easily the best, mostly because it just focuses on the Frankfurt School and its relation to the communist left. Anderson’s book is a decent overview but forces widely divergent tendencies into a single category. Losurdo’s book looks to be a hatchet job.

I was thinking of asking whether anyone has ever counted the number of times Jameson has used the word "baleful" in his writing, but it seems someone already wondered this aloud. Not trying to nitpick; it's just an unusual word to use so frequently without it being a terme d'art.
