First Minister John Swinney met with UK Chancellor of HM Treasury Rachel Reeves . Joined by Finance Secretary Shona Robison MSP, the First Minister pressed the Chancellor to deliver investment across the UK to protect public services, tackle poverty and grow the economy.

Investment Minister Tom Arthur and Inverclyde Council Leader Stephen McCabe discussed how growing the economy can encourage more people to live and work in Inverclyde. Greenock's Ocean Terminal has welcomed 150,000 visitors since 2023, supported by £5.2 million from Scottish Government.

The date of the 2025-26 Scottish Budget has been proposed for 4 December, subject to the agreement of Finance and Public Admn Committee and Scottish Fiscal Commission. The Budget will outline the Scottish Government’s proposed spending plans for the next financial year.
