This is an important paper which demonstrates the importance of institutional change - add a requirement for data and code for empirical/experimental papers will make reproducibility rate much higher.

🚀Our field experiment (Yan Chen Alain Cohn & Al Roth) on Twitter shows that social media promotion can boost job market outcomes, especially for women❗️ ✅Job market candidates in the treatment group received one additional flyout, with women receiving 0.9 more job offers.

New working paper on social media promotion and job market outcomes - more visibility on Twitter, one more flyout, women in the treatment get 0.9 more job offers.

Reactions to this are interesting. We often randomise money, infrastructure, job training, on mostly poor people. Even if we expect one group to be better off. Either RCT without equipoise are unethical or they are ethical. I hope economists being subjects is not relevant.

This also makes FOSD intuitive. Suppose male hights FOSD female heights. This just means: The tallest man is taller than the tallest woman. The 2nd-tallest man is taller than the 2nd-tallest woman. Etc. The k-th tallest man is taller than the k-th tallest woman, for all k.

My friend and co-author YingHua He died of kidney cancer this past week. YingHua was among the most brilliant economists I have the good fortune to have met. He was kind, funny and full of good ideas. I miss him and will always cherish the time we had together.

Just received a youtube recording of #YingHua on his research on school choice, sharing his smiles, laughter and wisdom with the world: youtube.com/watch?v=yMD3_G…
