What an amazing race Utopia gravel was! 165km through the Gorafe desert in one of my favourite places to ride a bike. A challenging day but loved it. Nearly 8 hours of racing 😮

Stage 3 of 3 Dias Mallorca yesterday was insanely hard. I managed to stick with the group but burnt a lot of matches.
I was hoping the final stage today would be 💪- but I didn’t have the power to stay with the mad pace. Gave it my all.
Bike racing is so heartbreaking at times!

Stage 1 of 3 Dias de Mallorca last night was 75km of intervals 🥵🥵
Stayed with the main group. Loved it. But very different to riding up hills in Colombia.
75km in less than 1hr 45 (av speed was 44kph).
In Colombia some days 75km would take 5 hours 😂

Will gravel take off ? Jan Frodeno seems to think so with his SGRAIL triathlon events. Caroline Livesey and I discuss our race experience out in Colombia. Episode out now.

Scotland spent 3 years considering the laws on hate crimes before the Bill was introduced in 2020.
4 more years, after being voted into law and police training to deal with complaints, it came into force.
It took J.K. Rowling less than 24 hours to demonstrate why it is…

History made. What an incredible individual! Of course it’s amazing to be the first woman to do this. But I think I am also right in saying she one of only 20 people to have ever completed this. And countless have tried and failed. Amazing.

Longest road climb in the world?
Oh go on then…
Alto el Sifón. Summit at 4150m.
Climbing for 95km.
Was a touch cold on top 🙈😱
You won’t believe it. Film to follow. 😂
The Brick Session didn’t cry (?)

This week The Brick Session and I are on a 3 day bike packing trip, devised mainly to bring us here to Jardín. I had to eat my emergency dextrose to get up the final climb today…
In my defence my body has not fully recovered, the climb was 30km and it was 30 degs C 😂

Just under 60 hours for 1000km and 21,000m ascent over 8 days (the descents took me longer!). Transcordilleras was an emotional adventure from start to finish. Heat, altitude, rough terrain coupled with incredible views and amazing people. Life in HD.

Finished the Transcordilleras. 8 days of mostly off road cycling across 3 mountain ranges through Colombia. This is just a snippet from a small town called Jericó’

So exhausted right now I barely know my own name. But ecstatic to have finished strong in the Transcordilleras 8 Stage race despite all its challenges. What a wild, emotional ride.
More to follow once I’ve had some sleep 😴

Stage 5. 🇨🇴
162km. 4000m elevation gained. Started in the humidity and heat of 100m Puerto Berrío and finished up at 2000m in Guatape. I suffered all day with stomach cramps and “emergency stops” but still managed to enjoy the view. Pavement lie down at finish.

Stage 3 versus Stage 4.
Stage 3 109km. I imploded. Felt sick. Couldn’t cope with the pain in my back /hands. Cried at the finish. Went to bed with cold sweats.
Stage 4…started slowly. 175km. Felt weak but ok. Heat and humidity I’ve only experienced in Kona. But triumphant!

Stage 2 Transcordilleras yesterday.
132km, 3700m elevation.
Took me about 9 hours I think.
Lost all track of time after 75km when I hit a bit of a dark patch. Total about 4 hours of rough rocky descents meant hands were in bits.
Doing it all again today. Body not sure…
