Great article by Henry Mintzberg on our 'hopeless obsession' with Formal Structure. Mr. Mintzberg falls short on offering a solution, though, as he is unaware of : betacodex.org/white-papers/p… The fact that Formal, Informal and Value Creation Structures co-exist is crucial!

means that teams in the periphery is in charge to run the business, with the center serving the periphery. Instead of the center wagging the periphery.
