Great to see this blog from Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh about the new elm saplings planted at Beauly Priory on Monday. A sign of hope that elm can thrive again stories.rbge.org.uk/archives/38839
We recently organised a visit to Arkaig Community Forest community deer larder for land managers looking to replicate similar facilities in #ScotlandsRainforest . We also saw the restoration site where they work with Woodland Trust Scotland to restore the native Caledonian pinewoods. Alliance for Scotland's Rainforest
Delighted to host The British Lichen Society & Alliance for Scotland's Rainforest at #DunollieWood last week & take a closer look at some of the 250 species that call Dunollie home! ๐ ๐
Why not test your lichen ID next time you're out for a walk?

The wood sorrel is just coming into flower in #ScotlandsRainforest . Looks gorgeous ๐
This is Ricasolia (Lobaria) virens, a lichen that's also sometimes known as dragon-skin, and you can see why! The brown shapes are fruiting bodies that release spores, and they're called apothecia. #ScotlandsRainforest is a real stronghold for lichens like this.

What weird and wonderful thing will you find in #Scotlandsrainforest ?maybe something like this slime mould from the genus Badhamia, happily growing on an ancient moss clad tree in Cowal!
Fancy a visit to #ScotlandsRainforest this spring? Pop onto our website and hit the Visit tab at the top. You'll find a map of good rainforest sites to explore, information about the wildlife you might see, ID guides, and more! ๐ buff.ly/387g78P
Great meeting today of Alliance for Scotland's Rainforest eNGO Advocacy Group in Woodland Trust Scotland Edinburgh Office. Organisations working together to shape thinking on how we best protect and restore Scotland's Rainforest - tackling rhododendron ponticum and reducing deer numbers among key priorities.
The mixed woodlands of #ScotlandsRainforest are fantastic for wildlife all year round. But they're particularly important as a summer home for migrant birds, many of which have been arriving back over the last few weeks, such as the beautiful pied flycatcher.

A great idea from our partner organisation, working hard to protect Scotland's beautiful rainforest! Please follow their advice and do your part to protect it too by staying on the paths. #ScotlandsRainforest
๐ณ #WildGarlic , also known as ramsons or wood garlic, is starting to carpet the #woodland floor.
๐ Look for long green pointed leaves with a smooth edge and small, white flowers with six petals on a thin stalk.

You might spot pretty dog violets in bloom around #ScotlandsRainforest . These flowers are similar to sweet violets but have no smell. They're important for butterflies like the pearl-bordered fritillary, which feeds on the flowers, and lays eggs on the leaves.

If you're passing through Oban this spring, you should pop into Dunollie Wood and experience #ScotlandsRainforest . This beautiful hazelwood is covered in lichens and mosses, and carpeted with bluebells. Do remember to keep to the paths! buff.ly/3QPsLQO
