I doubted myself and you said, “you are not here by mistake.”

Great things have happened since then.

Joe uses the marathon as a metaphor for relationships. Just as a runner avoids talking about his knee,a couple may avoid discomfort by staying silent on difficult topics. But just like the physical pain worsens without attention, unresolved issues in relationships fester.
