I wish Pastor Mark Burns would realize that the only wall we need is the wall of separation between church and state. It's the wall that protects us all.

Craig Nash writes, 'After just a few moments speaking with Sanchi Rohira, a senior at Georgetown University, it was evident that her generation could also be described as “justice natives.” She is one of their most promising leaders.'

I object to this on ethical and philosophical grounds. It is an unkind way to engage in apologetics. We would immediately see this if we applied the analysis to a non-Christian religion - we would feel the inherent disrespect. But atheists, as ever, are fair game.

Instead of engaging atheists as equals, it diagnoses us with a problem, suggesting we literally have something missing - and that something is god. The force of the statement comes not from any evidence or reasons that god exists, but from a sort of emotional blackmail.

Whenever I hear an apologist suggest that there’s a god-shaped hole in my heart - and, worse, that I know there is such a hole - I roll my eyes. It’s an emotionally manipulative slogan which suggests the problem is with the disbeliever not in the arguments for god.

I find the “God-shaped hole” discourse demeaning, misleading, and dangerous. Demeaning because it suggests atheists cannot live full lives. Misleading because it misdiagnoses the problems we’re facing. Dangerous because it promotes unhelpful responses to those problems. 🧵

This is what authoritarians do: incite violence against anyone seen as having the power to harm Cult Leader. This is also designed to make it very difficult to find jurors and thus proceed with the trial. It is form of sabotage of our democratic justice system.

Rodgers is repeating a Soviet-created psyop from the 1980s, an idea so stupid that even the Soviets can't believe we fell for it.
This does not mean Rodgers is in bed with the Russians. He's just too dumb to know where this particular conspiracy theory came from.

I will not stop saying this until Christian Nationalism is relegated to the fringes of American society and discourse: Christian Nationalism is the single greatest threat to the American Constitution and our government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
