Yesterday at #AAG2024 Institute on Inequality & Democracy researchers joined other housing justice scholars in 3 sessions about land, power, representation. We started with Annie Powers & the National Homeless Union & then heard from Dylan Tsai from the Honolulu Tenants Association 1/4

Will Sens Jr. gave a talk on the politics & poetics of waiting and Ashley Hernandez on life worlds of territorial struggle. Pamela Stephens & K. Lovich each skillfully dismantled the homeless industrial complex. 2/4

terra graziani reminded us of the role of policing in the reproduction of housing precarity, And Carla Orendorff, along with her mobile archive, spoke of refusal, refuge, return at Aetna St in the face of such state violence. 3/4

In the final session, some of us (including Audrey Kobayashi, Jeff Masada, Victoria Bomberry & myself) presented practices of insurgent research & reflected on the challenges of undercommoning the university. 4/4
