This could be anywhere. Coincidentally, it looks just like the proposal for the Black & White site - but we were told that had been designed specifically for that site. 🤷‍♂️

An excellent thread. We would just add that for air con, one could just as easily read air source heat pump, which are just as ugly. Here’s one that was permitted in the heart of one of our conservation areas!

🚫PERMISSION DENIED! SAVE is heartened to see planning permission has been denied for a 42-storey skyscraper which would have all it hidden a charming listed building on Broad Street, Birmingham. 🎉 Read more theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/a…

The unhealthy focus on 'contrasting' with old instead of complementing it is a recipe for failure in too many cases. Let’s just admit beauty deserves to be replicated not conflicted.

Clarence Square Cheltenham Borough Council Cheltenham Civic Society Totally agree, paid a visit to the high street for the first time in years (as we are thinking of moving back to Cheltenham), it was dreadful! I don’t mean the empty units, the whole street scene was depressing.

Hmm. There's a parable about specks of dust & planks of wood. I recommend it whilst considering filthy tree pits, rubbish, broken dirty slabs, rampant weeds etc. Please get your own house in order first Cheltenham Borough Council

Thinking about it - what else are streets for other than people?

How come we get street design so wrong, so often?

And why, oh why when we get the chance to change, modify, upgrade or improve do we so often fail to seize the moment?

It's not rocket science ...

Let’s consider the former Black & White site. Which style would you prefer?

Like for the modern block, as proposed.

Retweet for the traditional alternative.

I can't believe these plans are real. Why would any architect or developer be proud of such a creation? 🤦👇

How does a building that hasn't been used for decades, with disconnected electricity, on a rainy day magically go up in flames?

Bet this land is acquired by private developers for flats within 12 months.

The glazing of this house is around 33% of its floor area. However, new regulations in Part O §1 allow maximum glazing of 11-18%. So *half to two thirds* of these windows would be blocked up. Do the British people really need their Government to protect them from this building?

Architects train for 7+ years in UK to produce lumps like this. What in their training needs to change to prevent horrors like this?

Is this another example of the new silly Part O Building Regulations making homes less nice and windows smaller to no purpose? It looks like it.

The windows on the left are the communal stairwell. We suspect they originally intended to use the same windows for the flats on the…

Grateful to Worcester City Council for putting a TPO on these trees at Elgar Retail Park. Vital for shade and stopping heat island effect being exacerbated. Subsequently Starbucks plans have been revised after them saying the drive thru couldn’t possibly be positioned differently before.
