Our letter to the PM was reinforced this morning by the debate on Biodiversity.

In my remarks I pointed out that Colombia as host of COP16 of the Convention on Biological Diversity has already joined the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance. The U.K. needs to follow suit

A Labour Government would appoint a climate envoy, not issue new oil and gas licences and work with allies to ensure success at upcoming COPs.

Under this Government, the UK has lost any shred of credibility as a leader on the climate and nature emergencies. So I'm proud to lead this cross-party demand from MPs and Peers for the Prime Minister to take urgent steps to cut emissions and protect our natural world.

A cross-party group of 50 MPs have called for Rishi Sunak to drop his reckless plans to drain 'every last drop' of North Sea oil, to transition away from fossil fuels, and to provide finance to countries facing the worst climate impacts.
