Hannah 100% better than being a student. This time last year I tweeted about how I didn’t think I wanted to do medicine anymore.

I enjoy my job. 90% of the people around me are lovely. Feels good to be semi-useful and learning new things. If I won the lottery I’d still want to do this…

Dr Janaway Who made us housing and benefits police? Unless working in forensics with specialism in melingering I think we have other priorities than outing people doing desperate things to survive in a hostile system.

Subscribe totally to the eloquent way you have expressed the core issues at stakes.

Each story I hear adds to my sense that something must be done to challenge this. When a woman is labelled as having borderline personality disorder she is no longer believed.

I’m delighted to have been awarded an honour (B.E.M) for my work on Geeky Medics (Geeky Medics) over the last 13 years! Thanks to everyone who has supported me on this journey. 🙂👾

Hard disagree. You can’t just “learn on the job” to become a doctor.

The progressive dumbing down of what is needed to become a doctor is terrifying.

The only solution is hiring Drs, who are TRAINED to make decisions earlier and are TRAINED to handle the responsibility of their decision making.

Thinking outside algorithms.

Thinking of medicine as an art and not an exact science, or set of guidelines that can’t be breached.

Doctors often use the questionable line “I’m not political”

Some things go way beyond politics

And this includes the senseless killing of innocents (including our brave colleagues)

We either care about human life. Or we don’t

Imagine working in a mental health service without all the interfaces & different opinions, with continuity of care & a bigger team for support. Trieste does this brilliantly, and without sub specialist teams. If we pooled our specialist resources - maybe? bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

I’ve lived through war. Been one of those children hiding from bullets and bombs. Trauma lasts forever. Easy to hate.

So many wrongs being committed to right the wrongs committed, generation after generation.

My lived experiences will always lead me choose humanity. 🙏🏾

This is not what the PA role was meant to be & for any PAs who aren’t or won’t be satisfied with the limitations of the role, you should do what I (and others) have done and go to medical school.

How many of us came into mental health work with a wish to get to know people, their stories, make a trusting relationship, understand and ease their suffering and then find that this is not what we do? And if we do manage this it is in spite of the system we work in...

What all of these statements appear to lack is 'if local trusts breach our guidance, then the consequence will be X' - none of them mean much without teeth. 'Any centre found to be in breach will have all RCS accreditation removed' etc - something needed

strugglingmedic I don’t comment on individual situations as we don’t have the full picture but what I see is short termism and strategies that don’t work being used over and over, a shortage of qualified staff, less lasting relationships and sadly sometimes a worrying lack of care and compassion

Her last ever tweet, I don’t even know what to say- heartbroken doesn’t cover it and mental health services in this country are so unbelievably broken and overstretched, it’s so unfair💔💔
