Stressing the mentally ill out by increasingly harsher welfare policies is a mind bogglingly idiotic and counterproductive thing to do in order to make more people with a mental illness genuinely fit and able for work.

I've written a blog post about my first and second psychotic experiences and the main differences. Not sure why, really, but it's there for anyone who is interested. odnejad.blogspot.com/2024/04/fantas…

btw i do sincerely appreciate that some critical psychs are attempting to engage with my work instead of using lawyers to try to silence it. i have tons more respect for that than i do for those who simply try to discredit or silence mad and neurodivergent critics of their work.

for the avoidance of any doubt, i am happy to call myself anti-psychiatry. but i think it's important to distinguish different kinds of anti-psychiatry. i like laing, foucault, and basaglia. i do not like szasz, breggin, and contemporary bourgeois critical psych.

I’m not ignoring that at all I’m just pointing out how anti psychiatry discourse gets taken up by the right wing

Helpful words on the discipline of writing openly about mental illness.
I hope that my fellow bloggers out there find this provides a bit of inspo:
“If something inside of you is real, we will probably find it interesting, and it will probably be universal. So you must risk

But anyway it's interesting when we consider that right wingers often claim that recognizing neurodivergent impairments hinders us being able to take responsibility and achieve things and so on - seems the ideology does not fit with the science.

Interesting finding: neurodivergent people who believe ND traits are natural and that ND people share similar traits 'were more likely to say that they themselves could achieve and overcome obstacles' and reported higher 'self-efficacy' (h/t Joshua Habgood-Coote)
