Wonder how many more blowhards like Clarkson will start backtracking on years of denial as the sh1t starts to really hit the fan?

Finally puts paid to many farms’ hopes of spring cropping. A first ‘year without harvest’ for some after winter crop failures Steve Barclay. Big impacts for livestock sector later in year.

🤞for improving conditions to at least plant summer fallows & agri-environment options.

A bit further east than expected but a lot of rain for some areas overnight.

30-40mm quite widely, which is more than half of April total average rainfall.

'China’s quiet energy revolution: The switch from nuclear to renewable energy.'

China scales back its nuclear plans for the same reasons as everyone else. It's too expensive and too slow. It can't compete with renewables. reneweconomy.com.au/chinas-quiet-e…

The global shift to renewables is inevitable and irreversible.

Not because nations are doing it to save the planet but because they’re much cheaper.

Economics will alway prevail. In this case it’s very fortunate.

Slowly, slowly the implications of climate change are beginning to land.

It’s not going to be some far off problem that affects a few people in vulnerable locations.

Everyone is going to share the pain. And very soon.

Horror show from the European model today.

Showing 60-80mm of rain by the end of the first week of May for southern areas.

Hopefully overdoing it a bit.

After a drier spell it looks like turning wet again. At least for southern areas. 20-30mm quite widely through the weekend.

Discussion about 'why is it so cold?' at present in the UK desperately needs the extra context that, historically speaking, it's not all that cold.

The climate is rapidly warming, and so perceptions shift alongside that toward an 'expectation' of above-normal temperatures.

One of the best things I heard while at the EA was a Director who came on a “fact finding” visit telling us we needn’t worry too much about water companies as they know what they’re doing.

Turns out he was right!

If we’ve learned one thing over the last 14 years it’s that grand statements and promises are easily made and easily ignored.

After having voted for a wholly inadequate plan Tory MPs are forced to defend the indefensible.

Hopefully, in private at least, they’re ashamed.
