In 2007-9 I interviewed lots of people working in equalities (NGOs, parliamentarians, etc) who were *genuinely excited & hopeful* about the new EHRC. I then worked in the LGBT sector where people were especially excited for the 1st 'watchdog' for our communities. Now look.

The way in which this article speaks to almost the exact experiences we've had with WOCU/@thejtclist here in the US is uncanny. Amazing job @drashlee_c and @akwugoemejulu! We feel seen. A must-read.

WOCU/@TheJTCList doesn’t partner w/most white female led orgs in Hollywood, not for lack of trying. I believe that these orgs were built on upholding white supremacy & can’t/don’t want to change. Manon de Reeper found a UK article which explains the problems & speaks to my soul.

I support academic freedom but not that kind that masks transphobia and racism. Deeply saddened that The University of Edinburgh allows this event to go ahead. Student and staff safety should come first and freedom should come with accountability.

They said we were tired.

They said we were weak.

They said we couldn’t win a national ballot.

Today, 70,000 UCU members bring every university in the UK to halt.

I am proud to lead this union.

Onto the picket lines.
