Thank you Excellency Dr Ali Hajiadam Abubakar for your leadership and the update on government’s plans and commitment to stop the cVDPV2 polio outbreak and provide essential vaccines to all children in Somalia. WHO and all GPEI partners are committed to supporting these efforts.

A year of conflict in #Sudan has created one of the world’s biggest child displacement crises. I commend Sudan’s health workers for their efforts to strive to search for poliovirus and deliver vaccines to prevent polio and other childhood diseases against this backdrop.

Indeed, we have never been better equipped to stamp out many preventable diseases - including #polio . We are facing complex challenges in our WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean Region, but with collective action, it is possible to #EndPolio .
